Cannes at Prague – reflections of the Semaine de la Critique short film section at Ponrepo cinema
The BOO Festival, in collaboration with the Ponrepo cinema, is bringing to Prague a selection of short films screened at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival as part of the Semaine de la Critique (Critics’ Week) official competition section. You can look forward to three screening programmes showcasing outstanding new filmmakers from around the world.
Semaine de la Critique was established in 1962 under the auspices of the French Association of Film Critics as a parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival. Its aim is to discover and support emerging filmmakers from around the world, regardless of the length or genre of their work. Filmmakers such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Leos Carax, Ken Loach, Jacques Audiard, François Ozon and Gaspar Noé all started their careers here.
This year’s selection will feature a total of 13 short films divided into three screenings. Two of these will be introduced in person by Gregory Coutaut, curator of the Semaine de la Critique short film section.
