Confession
The word trauma has many shades. The documentary Confession opens up the topic of sexual harassment in the church, which the director has experienced first-hand. She looks back at the world before the trauma, and searches for answers herself to the questions of whether she will be able to come out of it after some time, and whether she will find the courage to tell her parents about it.
Rebeka Bizubová has been passionate about capturing fleeting moments since an early age. Her work primarily explores the themes of family—its closeness, unity, as well as its challenges and complex relationships. She earned her bachelor's degree at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, where she directed the documentary film At the Beginning of the End (2022), which examines the shifting roles between mother and daughter. The film premiered at the Cinematik International Film Festival in Piešťany and won the main prize at the Pocity Festival, receiving recognition at several international festivals. Rebeka completed her master's degree at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava under the mentorship of Jaroslav Vojtek. Her master’s film, Confession (2024), explores her personal trauma caused by sexual harassment, creating a deeply emotional and thought-provoking piece.
