Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe!

In the clouds high above Earth lies a mythical playground where the young generation of Greek gods and monsters come together to play. Among them is Yios, a little boy with a shining sun on his head, inherited from his father, the god Helios. While his father’s crown creates beautiful ornaments, Yios has trouble controlling his shine. His rays explode in unexpected directions, creating trouble and making children avoid him. Despite Yios’s eagerness to belong, the mishaps keep piling up. The situation escalates, leading to a cruel prank devised by the annoyed children. As an unfortunate result, Yios falls from the clouds, all the way down to Earth. However, in this strange and unfamiliar place, Yios meets someone unexpected…

Andrea Szelesová is a Slovak director and animator. At VOŠ Václava Hollara she animated her first film Malady, later continuing her studies at FAMU, where she created films Mon Ami (2019), anidoc 19 20 18 (2018), or the stop-motion Afternoon Tea (2019). She graduated with the film Sisters, which premiered at Annecy 2021 and took part in more than 60 festivals in 30 countries (BIAF, Clermont ISFF, OIAF), receiving 11 international awards including Best Slovak Animated Short at Fest Anča. As an animator she worked on M. Pavlátová’s feature film My Sunny Maad and TV series Čtyřlístek and Rychlé šípy (studio Alkay).
