ELBE DOCK Award
Warm sunlight falls on concrete buildings, whose walls resonate with laughter. Nowadays, barracks of a former Wehrmacht military base provide shelter for children forced to flee Ukraine. The children ride bikes, make wild flower wreaths and explore empty rooms and corridors. While playing, they discover military symbols from the past and link them to their own experience and hopes. On pavements, they doodle in an infinite loop, “Putin, stop killing people.”
