Culture Recovery and Resilience Plan

The Culture Recovery and Resilience Plan is a participatory action document that identifies key challenges facing the Slovak cultural sector and proposes concrete measures to support its recovery and strengthen its resilience. Francesca Balej will introduce its main themes, principles and development process, and explore how a participatory approach to cultural policy-making can contribute to the long-term stability and resilience of the cultural sector.

Francesca Balej is a production and cultural manager who chairs the ‘Social Stability of the Cultural Sector’ group as part of the Culture Recovery and Resilience Plan. Her master thesis and further research focus on the status of artists and addressing precarious working conditions in the cultural sector. She has experience across various artistic disciplines and with cultural organisations in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. She graduated from the Department of Theatre Management at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. Since the founding of Otvorená Kultúra, she has been politically active, contributing to productions and social media activities.
