Voiceless
Dan is a young man who spends a lot of time in his flat. His routine is always accompanied by electronic music pumping through his headphones. But when he steps outside, he feels disconnected from the world around him and only finds solace in nightclubs. Techno music and drugs transport him to a world where he can be himself, where he feels free. One day, he catches the eye of a baby which will change his perception of the world around him.
The film won the Pardino d'Oro Swiss Life Award and the Junior Jury Award at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2024, the Swiss Film Award 2025 for Best Animated Film, and also participated in the Palm Springs International ShortFest 2025 or the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival 2024. The film had its Czech premiere on BOO 2025.
Born in Berlin in 1993, Samuel Patthey studied Animation at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU). In 2017, he directed Travelogue Tel Aviv which won many prizes in festivals around the world. His second short film Ecorce won the Cristal for Best Short Film in 2021 and played more than a hundred festivals. Since 2018, he has worked as a film animation director at Fribourg in Switzerland.
