Film: A Vehicle of Emotions

Martyna will present a methodology she have developed called FILM: A VEHICLE OF EMOTIONS. The methodology can be used for children aged 10+. The core of this methodology is the integration-based workshop that combines elements of psychoeducation, group work, and film analysis. It is divided into theory and practice. The theoretical part explains how to use parables, fables, and metaphors (and increasingly, other films) which are also used as tools in psychotherapy. This can be effective when working with schoolchildren and youth, supporting their development of social and emotional competencies. The practical part of the workshop focuses on improving communication skills and presenting the role of film – especially documentary film – in emotional development and education.

Martyna Szustorowska

A graduate of film studies and journalism at the University of Łódź. She has been involved in supporting projects promoting film culture for eight years. First, at the National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź, she co-created permanent exhibitions and coordinated temporary exhibitions, publishing series and research on the use of VR technology in teaching methods and research on the state of audiovisual knowledge and skills among children and young people. Currently, at the Andrzej Wajda Film Culture Centre, she provides administrative support for projects run by the Education Department.
