TEACHERS FOR TEACHERS: Film Education in Practice (November 8, 2025, 10:00 a.m. Kino Kavalírka)
Are you a teacher, school principal, educational counselor, or school psychologist? Do you enjoy film and audiovisual media and would you like to use them effectively in your teaching, or incorporate film and audiovisual education directly into your classes? Or are you already involved in film and audiovisual education and looking for inspiration on how to further develop your skills in this field?
The focus of the Saturday industry program at the 1st edition of the BOO International Film Festival at Kino Kavalírka will be on sharing the good practice of teachers and organizations from Europe, especially the V4 countries, who have been working with film in their classrooms on a consistent and long-term basis. This international meeting of teachers from the Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia will provide the platform for sharing the experiences and ideas on how to exploit not only film's creative potential, but also the wide spectrum of possibilities that film as an educational tool offers.
In the first part of the day, teachers from the Netherlands and Germany will present their successful film education projects, which they use in classes. Representatives of film education organizations from the V4 countries will introduce some film education methodologies they have developed as part of the European FilmED project, which you can use to work with film in the classroom. The presentations of the V4 organizations are part of the Visegrad Audiovisual LAB project.

CINEMINI: Teaching Film Education to the Youngest Audiences (November 8 2025, 1:00 p.m. Kino Kavalírka)
Training for Cinemini lecturers in film education for the youngest children
What are the possibilities of film and audiovisual education in the field of preschool education? How can we teach preschoolers the language of film and develop their critical thinking from the earliest age? What are the educational principles and methods of the unique film education project Cinemini, and how can they be implemented in practice? How does Cinemini support the respectful development of young viewers?
Answers to these questions will be provided to Cinemini program lecturers at an inspiring workshop led by an experienced instructor from Frankfurt's DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum, which was involved in the project's inception.

Focus on the Future: European Dialogues on Film Education (November 8, od 1:30 p.m. Kino Kavalírka)
Why does film and media education matter? How do different European countries envision its future? And what can we do today to ensure audiovisual literacy becomes a natural part of education across Europe in the next decade?
Experts in film education from the Visegrad Four countries, along with educators from the Netherlands and Germany, will come together for a panel discussion to share experiences, national strategies, and perspectives on film and media education. Together, they'll explore common ground, identify challenges, and seek opportunities for collaboration—aiming to shape a shared vision for the future of film education in Europe.
The discussion will offer a behind-the-scenes look into diverse educational systems, open up conversations about institutional support, and outline tangible steps that can strengthen the role of film and media education across the continent.
This panel is open to teachers, educational institutions, professionals in the field, and anyone passionate about film and audiovisual literacy.

FILM ACADEMY: TEACH (WITH) FILM – Film in the Classroom: International Inspiration for Film Education Practices (November 8 2025, 3:00 p.m. Kino Kavalírka)
What are the international approaches to film education and working with film in the classroom?
The workshop is a unique opportunity to learn about the practice and approaches of film and audiovisual education teacher Jasper Vreken (NL) with long-term experience in documentary filmmaking with students. Participants will share their experiences during discussions and practical sessions. They will gain know-how, which they can use as inspiration or directly apply in their teaching practice.
