Tessa van Grafhorst | Taartrovers | How to do film education for the youngest

The Taartrovers collective creates teaching materials and installations for young children as part of film education projects, encouraging children to give shape to their feelings, images, and stories. The founder of the collective, Tessa van Grafhorst, will provide insight into Taartrovers' approaches, which allow children to discover the power of their imagination in a playful way and, with the help of all their senses, explore what they see, play with it, and transform it according to their own ideas.
In 1999, Tessa van Grafhorst opened the first Kinderbioscoop in Amsterdam. A small theatre especially for young children. A few years later she founded Taartrovers, a collective of designers and art teachers. It is the mission of Taartrovers to let young children (2+) play with film and imagination with all senses. Tessa works on spreading the mission, as lecturer she is sharing her vision and knowledge with professionals, as (film)art teacher she teaches preschoolers, and as co-creative she develops playful concepts, programs and installations.
