Film Education for Teachers
Are you a teacher, school principal, educational counselor, or school psychologist? Do you enjoy film and audiovisual media and would you like to use them effectively in your teaching, or incorporate film and audiovisual education directly into your classes? Or are you already involved in film and audiovisual education and looking for inspiration on how to further develop your skills in this field?
The focus of the Saturday industry program at the 1st edition of the BOO International Film Festival at Kino Kavalírka will be on sharing the good practice of teachers and organizations from Europe, especially the V4 countries, who have been working with film in their classrooms on a consistent and long-term basis. This international meeting of European teachers will provide the platform for sharing the experiences and ideas on how to exploit not only film's creative potential, but also the wide spectrum of possibilities that film as an educational tool offers.
TEACHERS FOR TEACHERS: Film Education in Practice
November 8, 9:30 a.m. Kino Kavalírka
In the first part of the day, teachers from Europe will present their successful film education projects, which they use in classes. Representatives of film education organizations from the V4 countries will introduce some film education methodologies they have developed as part of the European FilmED project, which you can use to work with film in the classroom. The presentations of the V4 organizations are part of the Visegrad Audiovisual LAB project. This international meeting of teachers will provide a platform for sharing experiences and ideas on how to utilize not only the creative potential of film, but also the wide range of possibilities that film and film education offer as educational tools. The event is moderated by Filip Rambousek.

CINEMINI: Teaching Film Education to the Youngest Audiences

Training for Cinemini educators in film education for the youngest children
What are the possibilities of film and audiovisual education in the field of preschool education? How can we teach preschoolers the language of film and develop their critical thinking from the earliest age? What are the educational principles and methods of the unique film education project Cinemini, and how can they be implemented in practice? How does Cinemini support the respectful development of young viewers?
Answers to these questions will be provided to Cinemini programme educators at an inspiring workshop led by an experienced instructor.

Focus on the Future: European Dialogues on Film Education

Why does film and media education matter? How do different European countries envision its future? And what can we do today to ensure audiovisual literacy becomes a natural part of education across Europe in the next decade?
Experts in film education from the V4 countries (Czechia, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary), along with educators from the Netherlands and Germany, will come together for a panel discussion to share experiences, national strategies, and perspectives on film and media education. Together, they'll explore common ground, identify challenges, and seek opportunities for collaboration – aiming to shape a shared vision for the future of film education in Europe. The event is moderated by Filip Rambousek.

Film Education and Students’ Mental Health

How can film education contribute to the mental well-being of pupils and students? And what are the opportunities and challenges of working with film in school?
A moderated discussion with film education teachers will offer inspiring perspectives on how film can be used to explore topics such as mental well-being, empathy, and self-reflection, while also helping to create a safe classroom environment. The sharing of specific approaches, experiences, and methods will serve as inspiration for teachers and professionals who wish to use film not only as an artistic medium, but also as an educational and supportive tool.
Workshop: Film in the Classroom – News Report with Street Interviews
November 8 2025, 3:00 p.m. Kino Kavalírka
In this workshop, film teacher Jasper Vreken (NL) will share his experience as a film teacher, as the director of Stichting Documaken (making documentaries), and as the project leader of the MSA Film Academy – an after-school fiction film programme. Together with the participants he´ll also get hands-on and create a festival news report with street interviews. The participants will learn how to use a single question and strong, matching visuals to produce a creative news piece – for example, from a film festival! Or from a school project, of course. The worksheet we use will be available digitally after the workshop.
The all day program Teachers for Teachers will be held in English and translated into Czech.
THE SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS FOR SATURDAY'S INDUSTRY PROGRAM WILL BE DONE BY OPEN CALL. PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM WILL BE POSSIBLE WHEN YOUR REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED. THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 26.
